The region of Hovedstaden was set up on the 1st January 2007, combining the two major city regions, Copenhagen and Frederiksberg as well as north Sjælland. Bornholm is also included. There are now over 1.6 million people in the region, 600,000 of whom live in Copenhagen/Frederiksberg. The region offers everything from sandy beaches in the north, the Louisiana Museum of Art, Helsingør with Kronborg (Hamlet’s) castle and, of course the capital’s nightlife, fashion, gay bars, design and much more.
