Israel is surrounded by the Mediterranean in the west, in the east by the so Great Syrian-African Rift Valley, and In the south by the Red Sea. It borders Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. The majority of the population in Israel live in the north and central parts of the country. Every year in Jerusalem, under police protection, Pride is organised by Jerusalem Open House, an organisation that gathers LGBT people from all ethnic, social and religious affiliations. Eilat in the south is a popular holiday resort that attracts many European gay tourists.
