Bulgaria is situated in southeast Europe, in the heart of the Balkans. It borders Greece, Macedonia, Romania and Turkey. The north of the country is dominated by the vast plains around the Danube and the south part of highland areas and plains. In the east, the beaches by the Black Sea attract tourists all year around. Bulgaria is growing in popularity as a country of tourism with its mile long sandy beaches, beautiful scenery, dramatic history, cheap shopping and a sunny summer climate. Bulgaria is also very cheap for most western Europeans. It still carries a legacy from the old Eastern Europe, though they work hard to adjust to the new times and new customs.
