Gigantic Russia with its huge landmass has tons to offer. Everything from pulsating city life, like Moscow and St Petersburg, to more relaxing environments in the countryside, skiing in the Caucasus, or swimming and sunshine by the Black Sea. In the cities you find a rich selection of culture and historical places, but also, not to forget, world class nightlife.
Russia stretches thousands of kilometres both from east to west, and north to south. It's divided in eleven time zones. This naturally means that it's impossible to see all of Russia during one trip. A trip of a lifetime for many, and a way to see quite a bit, is to travel on the Trans Siberian railway, which stretches all the way from Moscow in the west to Vladivostok in the east, alternative Beijing in China. Visas are required. The attitude towards gays varies a lot and there are blatantly hostile groups in the country.
