Västerås, or in old times, Westra Aros, is located where river Svartån drains in lake Mälaren. A city with roots in the 13th century and centre for the local government as well as the church in county Västmanland. Västerås is jokingly called the cucumber city and is the fifth largest city in Sweden. apart from the port, Västerås also has the Botanic Gardens and beautiful park area Djäkneparken. Västerås is one of the hometowns of ABB and here you find Mälardalen University.
