The county seat of Älvsborg, Vännersborg, is as well known under the nick name Little Paris. A city that also is regional capital of Western Götaland. The place where Vänersborg lies today was in earlier times the marketplace Brätte. It got city privileges in 1580 and in 1644 its was the Queen Kristina which gave the newly formed town of Vänersborg its privileges.
The area was long a battlefield in the fight between Sweden and Denmark/Norway.
As a tourist you probably will visit the marketplace Brätte, the mountain plateau Hunneberg as well as the city's museum.
No organized gayliv are to be found, but RFSLs local group Trestad covers Vänsreborg as well as Trollhättan and Uddevalla.
