Adelaide is the fifth largest city in Australia and is the capitals of province South Australia. The city was founded in 1836 and was named after the British queen Adelaide. Before the British arrived this area belonged to aboriginal tribe Kaumas. They are known for their controlled bush fires in what today is called Adelaide Hills. The climate in Adelaide varies from up towards 30 degrees in January/February, to just below 10 degrees from June to September. The city has a large military industry and cars manufactured in Australia are made in Adelaide. Sometimes the city is called media moguls Robert Murdoch’s "spiritual home".
Gay life here is not quite as big as in Sydney or Melbourne, but a Pride festival is organised every year.
