Lübeck is a north German port city by river Trave in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The Baltic Sea has been, and still is the vein of Lübeck. From here the Hanseatic League was ruled. Lübeck has become a centre of middle age archaeology, where every shovel of earth leads straight to history. The city is characterised my Middle Age buildings and many cultural and historic sights, among them the city gate Holstentor, a defence fort from the 15th century with two towers that has become the hallmark of Lübeck. If you like marzipan, this is the city to eat it in.
