Canada’s biggest city and provincial capital of Ontario. 5.6 million people live in the greater Toronto region and the city is the financial capital of Canada and one of the top cities in the world in regard to financial power. Before the Europeans arrived where present day Toronto is, the Iroquois tribe ruled here already 1500 B.C. However, the Huron tribe had gained power when French trades men arrived here at the end of the 18th century. Toronto is surrounded by rivers Humber and Don, and water with the port are important parts of the city’s identity. The climate varies from 7 degrees below zero in the winter, to close to 30 degrees above in the summer. The Pride festival is held in June every year and is viewed as one of the biggest in the world. It is also one of Canada’s foremost festivals when it comes to art, culture… and of course, partying!
