If you are spiritual or have the slightest bit of historical interest Jerusalem is a must! Here you can walk around Armenian, Christian, Muslim and Jewish quarters, see religious sanctuaries and memorials from the region's full history. The religious elements mean that it's not always advisable to kiss openly - at least not in all areas of the city. This is evident when Jerusalem Pride is celebrated and is confronted with very negative ultra religious demonstrations. However, Jerusalem also has one of Israel's most politically active LGBT organisations, Jerusalem Open House, which gathers non-religious and religious people, as well as different ethnic and cultural groups, under the same roof.
