Bergamo is in the region of Lombardy, about 50 kilometres northeast of Milan. The town has two centres; Cittá alta (the upper city) and Cittá bassa (the lower city). The easiest way to get to Cittá alta is by cable car, which leaves every ten minutes. In Cittá alta you find many cafes and restaurants and it has stunning views. Cittá alta is surrounded by Venetian walls from the 17th century.
Cittá bassa is the modern town and is crowded by brand stores. Bergamo is a nice and organised town without being boring.
