Greater Stockholm was formed on January 1st 2005, and includes all the municipalities of Greater Stockholm County. From Nynäshamn and Södertälje in the south to Norrtälje furthest north. The region includes the archipelago, the city of Stockholm and more rural areas like Österåker. You can get round the whole region using public transport –buses, commuter trains, the underground or trams. There are nearly 2 million people living in the area, 800,000 of whom live in Stockholm City.
