During Stockholm Pride Week, the National Museum and the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities are organizing joint tours in collaboration with RFSL – the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Rights. You are warmly welcome to explore art and queer stories from past and present!

The tour begins at the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities' exhibition "Habibi – the Revolutions of Love," where contemporary artists from the Arab world, Iran, and Afghanistan challenge gender norms while exploring relationships with their own bodies and public spaces. After a walk together to the National Museum, we will delve deeper into the theme by encountering historical figures, motifs, and phenomena that have challenged – and continue to challenge – a heteronormative order.

The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, followed by refreshments.

The National Museum and the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities are two nearby museums with different focuses. The National Museum has a Western orientation and showcases paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints from the 16th century to the turn of the 20th century, as well as crafts and design objects from the 16th century to today. The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities features exhibitions with both ancient and contemporary objects from the Mediterranean and the Middle East. In this collaboration, we weave together the museums and create a bridge of queer stories that span across time and space.
