Florianópolis is the capital of Santa Catarina State in southern Brazil. Because of its location it's a popular tourist resort with long white beaches. The fantastic waves also make this a surfer's paradise. The city has a humid subtropical climate. The city has been nicknamed Floripa and claims to have the best carnival in all of Brazil. In "downtown" Floripa you find the gay scene.
