Dubrovnik is, without a doubt, a beautiful city, situated in south Dalmatia, the most beautiful part of the Adriatic coast. Rich vegetation, beautiful lakes, stunning islands, white pebble beaches and crystal clear water, makes this region an unforgettable experience for each visitor. Dubrovnik could be straight out of a knights movie; fortified walls surround a jumbled city of terracotta coloured roofs, walls covered with ivy, church domes and winding limestone alley with no cars. Here and there palm trees break the nougat coloured warm architecture of the city. When George Bernard Shaw in 1929 visited Dubrovnik, he said: "Those who seek paradise on earth should come to Dubrovnik". Dubrovnik consists of a new and an old part. The old part, Stari Grad, is situated behind the city walls from the Middle Ages, and is the most beautiful, while the new part is more practical than charming. Nude beach, Lokrum Beach, located on an island outside Dubrovnik, is popular with gay men, as is Solitudo Beach. Café Troubadour in the old city is a popular hang out for LGBT people.
