Minneapolis is located in the American state of Minnesota. Minneapolis grew around the St Anthony Falls, the highest water falls along the Missisippi river. Many Scandinavian, primarily Swedish and Norwegian, and German emigrants came here. It also has a large native American population. The area, with many small lakes and forests, contributed to why so many Scandinavians settled here. A system of so called skyways, glassed bridges, lead between the buildings in the city centre. It means that you're always "indoors" when you're walking. Minneapolis has a massive shopping centre, Mall of America, which is one of the largest in the world. Most of the gay scene is concentrated to "downtown".
