November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance. We gather at Triangeltorget at 18:00 to honour the memory of trans people who have died as a result of transphobic violence, and to highlight the transphobia in society and the hate crimes which it leads to.

RFSL Ungdom Syd invites you to a gathering to honour and remember those who are no longer with us, and to show that there are many of us who keep fighting. It will be a moment of solidarity and community. This day is important as trans people in Sweden today face invisibility, incomprehension and violence to a higher degree than many other groups.

During the manifestation there will be speeches. After the manifestation there will be fika for everyone at RFSL Ungdoms Syds place.

Transgender Day of Remembrance originated in San Fransisco 1999 as part of the project " Remembering Our Dead” after Rita Hester had been murdered because of her trans identity on November 28 1998. Among other things, there was a ceremony where candles were lit in memory of the dead. Today, Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed in many countries, often through lighting candles and reading the names of persons who have died as a result of transphobic violence.
